Meet Our Authors, Paul McCarthy

In a nutshell, what's your book about? Who should read it? Music/criminality/raves/drugs/prison/redemption...everyone should read this life's journey, it’s brutally honest.

Why did you write a book? I had to clear my head and I found writing is as good as therapy.

What made you decide to self-publish? I signed a contract with a London publisher that basically gave them everything, plus the editing was terrible....I waited until the end of that contract then I found Storyhouse Works...so happy I did.

Which services did you use at Storyhouse Works? I took full advantage of all the above...my book is now amazing...it is now something I am really proud of.

What’s something that surprised you about the self-publishing process? What did you learn? I was a little nervous at first because I'm not an academic, also I'm dyslexic so my initial contact with Storyhouse Works was a little daunting...after my first conversation with Hannah I knew I was on the right track I learned quite quickly that having the right people on your side makes you want to do better.

What advice to you have for those looking to self-publish a book? Any tips or tricks you’d like to share? Listen to everyone you come across at Storyhouse Works...They are professionals in all their fields...don't be afraid to trust them.

What's next for you? Cat in a Basket...children's book series
